Buttle, Albert Edward
Son of John & Annie Buttle of Templeshannon, Enniscorthy. His father, John was Director of Messrs. Buttle Bros & Co. Ltd, Bacon Curers and Merchants. Albert was educated in Newtown School, Waterford and Model School, Enniscorthy. Enlisted with Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st April 1915. Gazetted 2nd Lieut. Royal Irish Rifles 2nd Bn. Took part in the Battles of the Somme in July 1916 and was invalided home in January 1917. Promoted to First Lieutenant, July 1917. Was offered a medical discharge being medically unfit, but volunteered again and rejoined his regiment in France on 29th May 1918. A casualty of the Fifth Battle of Ypres (28 Sept – 2 Oct 1918). Buried in Haringhe Military Cemetery.

According to article in Free Press in 1916 Byrne complained in letter home of 'dullness and inactivity' prior to death.

Thomas was an apprentice moulder in a local foundry at the time of the Wexford Lockout 1911. His body was never recovered. He is memorialised on panel 33, Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.

Son of Laurence and Anne Canavan née Roche. Married Margaret Doran 1907. Widow later Mrs Peter Kearney. Date of death, 19th October, is the date that 2nd Royal Irish assaulted the town of Le Pilly, during the Battle of La Bassee.

Son of Charles and Margaret Canavan née Smith. His father was a Metropolitan police Office. He lived Kilcavan, Tara Hill, Gorey with his uncle James Canavan. He was a Gaelic Leaguer and all Ireland Hornpipe champion in 1906 at the Wexford Feis and again the following year in Wicklow. Buried in the Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy , France.

Canty, Daniel
Daniel Canty was Station Master at Kilrane station and also at Killinick station. Joined the Royal Irish Regiment in early 1915. He married Margaret Bellamy in June 1915. She lived at Ballygillane Big, Rosslare Harbour. Active service began on 02nd August 1915 in France. Gassed near Loos (a suburb of Lille) in August or September1915. Returned to active service and shipped to Salonika on 26th November 1915. He was buried in Kilrane Cemetery, Co. Wexford, on 10th May 1916 following a large and well attended funeral.
